Abstract

According to the master plan for Da Nang city until 2050, the main water sources for the city's activities are the Cu De, Yen, Tuy Loan, and Cau Do - Cam Le rivers. A study of the current of water quality from 2015 to 2023 shows that most of these rivers are showing signs of declining quality, characterized by BOD5, COD, NH4-N, and Coliform parameters. In the Cu De river basin, during the dry season, COD and BOD5 concentrations exceed the standards by 0 to 1.5 and 1.4 to 2 times, respectively; during the rainy season, they exceed the standards by 1.1 to 1.6 and 1.5 to 2.25 times, respectively. In the Yen river basin, water quality shows signs of improvement but still exceeds QCVN 08:2023/BTNMT for Class A in both seasons. In the Tuy Loan river basin, the water quality is unsatisfactory, with BOD5 and COD indicators exceeding standards by 1.1 to 2.25 times and showing signs of increasing in the last two years of the study period. In the Cau Do - Cam Le river basin, BOD5 content in river water at most monitoring times from 2019 to 2023 exceeded the QCVN 08:2023/BTNMT standard and tended to increase during the study period. At all monitoring times in 2023, COD exceeded the standard by 1.4 to 1.6 times. Coliform in water samples monitored during the dry season basically met the requirements for class A sources, while during the rainy season it was generally higher than the dry season and exceeded the standard by 2-4 times. Regarding the NH4-N indicator, the rivers studied met QCVN 08:2023/BTNMT standards at most monitoring points in both the rainy and dry seasons.
