Abstract

This paper analyzes the use of medicines in the Department of  Tropical Diseases at E Hospital. The analysis shows that 100% of the medical records were completely and clearly filled out with the patient’s name, age, gender, address and clear information about the medicines, their concentrations and routes of administration. However, there were some deficiencies in administrative procedures, such as 7.75% of the medical records abbreviated the main diagnosis, 94.75% of them did not prescribe medicines according to their routes of administration. The average number of medicines per person per day was 5.04 and the average treatment time was 5.85 days. Notably, the percentage of the medical records with prescription of injectable medicines was remarkably high (98.75%).
