Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the initial results of applying minimally invasive open surgery for ureteropelvic junction reconstruction in children at Thai Nguyen Central Hospital. Subjects and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 22 pediatric patients who underwent minimally invasive open surgery for ureteropelvic junction reconstruction from January 2023 to January 2026. Results: Good results accounted for 68,2%; bad results were observed in 1 patient requiring re-operation, representing a rate of 4,5%. Conclusion: Minimally invasive open surgery for the treatment of ureteropelvic junction stenosis is a safe, effective, and practical solution for provincial-level hospitals. This method has demonstrated many outstanding advantages: good postoperative pain relief, rapid recovery, good aesthetics, no need for modern equipment, and still ensuring treatment effectiveness equivalent to or higher than traditional techniques.
