The results of termite investigations (Insecta: Isoptera) are harmful in the Complex of Hue Monuments

Abstract

The results of a survey on the composition of termite species in the Complex of Hue Monuments in 2014 and 2015 found 25 species belonging to 12 genera and 3 families. Termitidae had the highest number of genera and species (16 species accounted for 64% of total identified species), followed by Rhinotermitidae with 7 species (28% of identified species). The number of species declined in Kalotermitidae, only two species (8% of the species identified). In which, 8 species were analyzed to assess their damage level for the Complex of Hue monuments. Result showed that, Coptotermes gestroi had the highest level of damage and was identified as the main pest species for the Complex of Hue Monuments.
