Abstract

The article proposes some ideas for applying Vietnamese memes in teaching some contents of Philology General Education Curriculum, based on studying the characteristics and the effectiveness of using memes in education. Four principles of meme application were established: sticking to the learning objectives; suitable for the students; establishing a close relationship between memes and learning contents; ensuring humor and impression. The meme application process consists of five steps: identifying learning objectives; understanding the students; selecting learning contents; using or designing memes in lessons and evaluating teaching effectiveness.
