Abstract

This paper focuses on substantivized adjectives which are formed by conversion process in the Vietnamese language. Substantivized adjectives are words which can be used as nouns and take some features of nouns. A Vietnamese adjective can be substantivized when it is used as a head word and has ability to combine with pre-modifers and/or post-modifiers in a noun phrase structure. This paper investigates and explains structural features of Vietnamese substantivized adjectives through literary works.
