Abstract

The 21st century is often referred to as the digital age. Over the past two decades, global society has experienced continuous technological advances during the digital revolution. With rapid technological growth, social relationships have evolved significantly, creating many new relationship models and posing numerous challenges to private law overall and specifically to the law of non-contractual damages. This article examines: i) the legal liability of internet intermediary platforms - a new aspect of the law on non-contractual damages; ii) the sharing economy and its challenges to the law of non-contractual damages; and iii) liability for damages caused by artificial intelligence. By identifying emerging trends, the article highlights challenges and proposes new approaches from a comparative law perspective.
