Abstract

PRP therapy has gained attention in the scientific field due to its potential regenerative effects and great benefit-to-risk ratio. PRP is abundant in growth factors which promote tissue-healing and angiogenesis, and has a variety of immunomodulatory actions with very few adverse effects. As a result, PRP has been used in dermatology and other specialties in recent years. According to studies, PRP has been utilized as a stand-alone therapy as well as an adjuvant modality. This review provides evidence supporting the efficacy of PRP in dermatological conditions, including wound healing, alopecia, skin rejuvenation, scar revision, and striae distensae. However, standardization in study design and PRP protocols is essential for scientific research. To strengthen the evidence base for PRP in cosmetic dermatology, future research should focus on large-scale randomized controlled trials with standardized protocols and extended follow-up times.
