Study on Morphological, Microbiological and Qualitative Chemical Composition of Nanhaia fordii (Dunn) J.Compton & Schrire Collected at Bac Ninh Province

Abstract
Nanhaia fordii (Dunn) J.Compton & Schrire (syn. Callerya fordii (Dunn) Schot, Millettia fordii Dunn) is a woody liana belonging to the Fabaceae family, collected at Bac Ninh province, Vietnam. A comprehensive botanical database covering plant morphology, anatomical structure, medicinal powder characteristics, and preliminary phytochemical composition of N. fordii will serve as a scientific foundation for future studies. Fresh samples were collected for morphological description and anatomical structure analysis. Dried medicinal powders and preliminary chemical compounds were also investigated and characterized. The results revealed distinct morphological features including pinnately compound leaves with 5–9(11) leaflets, cream-white raceme inflorescences, and narrow pod fruits. Anatomical sections of root, stem, and leaf exhibited typical Fabaceae vascular tissue organization. Medicinal powder examination identified characteristic elements including vessel fragments, fibers, calcium oxalate crystals, starch granules, and resin masses. Preliminary phytochemical screening detected saponins, flavonoids, tannins, and alkaloids as dominant groups across plant parts, while anthranoids were found only in fruits. Sterols, coumarins, and carotenoids were not detected. These data demonstrate the botanical identity and pharmacological potential of Nanhaia fordii in the pharmaceutical field.
