Abstract

The 21st century has brought profound and extensive changes to the world and Asia. Following the developments of the 20th century, the landscape of global economy and society has witnessed numerous new trends. The context of globalization and the new industrial revolution have been driving interdisciplinary trends in research and development of science and technology. This is not only an inevitable trend but also a self-demand of scientific disciplines that have become overly specialized. Interdisciplinary trends are increasingly dominant in holistic understanding as well as addressing comprehensive and complex issues toward development goals. This article focuses on analyzing the drivers of interdisciplinary development; perspectives and approaches; advantages of interdisciplinary trends; the reality of training activities and the trend of implementing interdisciplinary trends in some countries worldwide and in Vietnam.
