Protection of Intellectual Property Rights of Broadcasts on Internet - Experiences from Selected Countries and Implications for Vietnam

Abstract
The emergence of the Internet has introduced numerous advantages to broadcasting, offering an additional platform for its dissemination to the public. Nonetheless, this digital landscape also presents challenges in safeguarding the integrity of such broadcasts. Indeed, instances of widespread infringements upon the rights associated with online broadcasts are prevalent. Consequently, there is a pressing need for the continuous enhancement of legislation pertaining to the protection of intellectual property rights in relation to broadcasts on the Internet, along with the implementation of measures aimed at reinforcing and safeguarding the rights of intellectual property holders. Therefore, this paper will analyze the main characteristics of infringement actions against broadcasts on the Internet and the requirements for protective measures. It will also examine the current status of intellectual property rights protection for online broadcasts in various countries, in order to offer recommendations for improving relevant legal frameworks in Vietnam.
