Socio-demographic Factors Influencing the Perceived Quality of Life among Residents in the Mekong Delta Region

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the factors influencing the residents’s perceptions of quality of life in the Mekong Delta region. The study employs a sociological survey method, conducted with a randomly selected sample of 600 residents from Can Tho City and the provinces of Tien Giang, Soc Trang, and Ca Mau. A linear regression model is used to analyze the factors affecting individuals' perceptions of quality of life. The findings indicate that income and living standards play a fundamental role in shaping quality of life perceptions. Residents who receive support from local authorities tend to report a higher perceived quality of life. Conversely, married individuals report lower levels of perceived quality of life compared to those who are unmarried. These research findings provide a basis for proposing policy implications aimed at improving the quality of life for people in the Mekong Delta region in the coming period.
