Abstract

Together with the colonial exploitation accelerated by the French imperialists following
World War One (1914*1918), the wave of Western culture was introduced into Vietnam, bringing about profound changes in the country’s socio-economic structure as well as political and cultural life. Against this historic background, the segment of new
intellectuals who were ardently patriotic and craved for progress - with Dao Duy Anh being one of the typical figures - shifted the revolutionary path into a new direction. And Tan Viet Revolutionary Party was born amidst these circumstances. However, the party would soon fall into pieces due to the enemy’s furious oppression.
As for Dao Duy Anh, after his release from the imperialist prison, the situation was no
longer favorable for his political activities. However, he persisted in pursuing cultural
activities, using revolutionary reasons as a powerful weapon to serve the national cause of revolution. And he then became a great cultural figure.
