The phonetic oppositions are contradictory phonetic characteristics, for example,
consonant - vowel, length - shortness, level - uneven, etc.
The author showed Vietnamese phonetic oppositions and their usage in teaching
Vietnamese to foreigners, especially in correcting phonetic mistakes and in studying new words.The author also explained the value of Vietnamese phonetic oppositions in Vietnamese poems and music.
