Management Measures for Physical Education Activities Based on the PDCA Approach at Vietnam National University, Hanoi
Main Article Content
Abstract
Physical Education in higher education plays an important role in developing students’ physical competence, health literacy, self-training capacity, and active lifestyle. In the context of outcome-based education, the management of teaching activities in the Physical Education course needs to shift from administrative routine management to evidence-based quality management and continuous improvement. This article proposes management measures for teaching the Physical Education course under the competency-based approach at Vietnam National University, Hanoi, from the perspective of the PDCA cycle. The study employed a mixed-methods design, including document analysis, questionnaire surveys, interviews, pedagogical observation, and descriptive statistics. The survey sample was selected using a combination of stratified and purposive sampling, consisting of 638 participants, including 138 administrators and lecturers and 500 students from VNU member units. The results show that the teaching activities had positive foundations in terms of objectives and curriculum implementation, with mean scores of 3.94 and 3.89, respectively. However, limitations remained in learning organization forms (M = 2.77), assessment (M = 2.96), facilities, equipment, and the support mechanism for students’ self-directed physical education. On that basis, the article proposes six interrelated management measures aligned with the PDCA cycle: curriculum development, lecturer training, resource assurance, renewal of learning activities, improvement of assessment, and establishment of a feedback-based improvement mechanism.
