Abstract

Sustainable development, an indispensable trend in the global strategy, aims to tackle severe conflicts in economic development (economic growth), social stability (advancement, social equality, poverty reduction, and employment) and environmental protection (treatment of pollution, management of rational use of natural resources, and management of natural disaster risk). To achieve the goal of "growth model-based sustainable development", Can Tho City (CTC) focuses on identifying resources, growth motives, difficulties and opportunities to implement appropriate solutions. The article uses the data on CTC's economic, social, and environmental development realities to propose some viewpoints related to the challenges of sustainable development in the Mekong Delta.
