Global Economy in 2024: Risks, Uncertainties, and Implications for Vietnam
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article examines the global economic landscape in 2024, focusing on four key risk categories: geopolitical, economic, technological, and climatic. Geopolitically, 2024 is characterized by escalating international tensions and a dense election cycle. Economically, global growth is projected to decelerate to approximately 2.1%. Technological challenges primarily revolve around the management of artificial intelligence (AI), while climate concerns center on the El Nino phenomenon's potential to trigger extreme weather events. The study evaluates the impact of these dynamics on both the global economy and Vietnam, with particular emphasis on international trade and investment. Based on this analysis, the article identifies specific opportunities and challenges for Vietnam's economy in 2024. Finally, the research proposes several policy recommendations aimed at helping Vietnam effectively navigate risks and capitalize on opportunities during this volatile period. These proposals are designed to enhance the resilience and adaptability of Vietnam's economy in the face of global challenges.
